An individual has been sentenced to prison after being charged with spreading false rumors and leaving malicious comments about former Baby VOX member-turned-actress Shim Eun Jin.

The verdict was made on November 6 by Judge Park Yong Geun of the Seoul Western District Court. The individual was sentenced to five months in prison for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes by circulating pornographic material through communication media.

Mr. Lee was prosecuted for leaving multiple comments claiming, “Shim Eun Jin had sexual relations with actor Kim Ri Woo” on her social media account last year. He is said to have carried out the act to cause Shim Eun Jin sexual humiliation.

Judge Park stated, “The defendant continuously left explicit comments for his own sexual pleasure and to cause his victims to feel sexual humiliation, and because of this, his victims have suffered severe damages to their honor. The verdict was made based on the frequency of his crimes, as well as the fact that his actions took place over a long period of time.”

The judge also explained, “Even when factoring in the claim that the defendant’s obsessive compulsive disorder influenced his actions and the fact that he has admitted to his crimes, a prison sentence is unavoidable in this case.”
