Announcement New Rule in regard to Tagging People (1 Viewer)

The admin and mod teams have recently discussed the idea of how we can help users who are being tagged by users whom they do not want to be tagged by, and we have come up with this new system.

Therefore, we have decided that if there has been a previous statement that a user does not want to be tagged by another user (either to a mod or to that user directly), the tagging user is able to be punished for this via a verbal or WP.

For example, if User 1 tells a mod that they do not want to be tagged by User 2, then the mod will clarify this with User 2 and from here on out, User 2 can get punished with a verbal or WP for tagging User 1.

Similarly, if User 1 tells User 2 directly that they do not want to be tagged by User 2, User 2 can get punished with a verbal or WP for tagging User 1 if User 1 can provide this proof with a mod as well.

This may seem a little extreme, but we do think that if someone outright has stated that they do not want to be purposefully tagged by someone and have their decision not respected, this would be considered harassment in our eyes.

sometimes this is more in regard to individual people who like to disagree and fight with each other in annoying ways, it just gives users a more peace of mind

But like... if the person who doesnt want to get tagged keeps getting tagged by the person regardless of the warning points would they get banned (the tagger)?

Yep, the WP rule still stands. Once they have enough WP's they will get banned.

There's a bit of a caveat that seems to have been overlooked, and that is tag lists.

That's a completely separate thing. This is in regard to individual and specific tags. Abusing fandom tags when not appropriate has its own complications. If a user were to tag another user who happens to be in the same fandom as them using the fandom tag, this would not be considered to be violating this rule.

I'd say give a WP to User 2 directly if User 1 has spoken to User 2 instead of a mod but that might just be me

actually, I agree to this. I mean, how else are we going to know who does and doesn't wish to be tagged? I just tried to tag some friendly people in somebody's intro thread, but then I realized I don't know who NOT to tag, so I didn't.

Mods will let you know if a user has requested that you don’t tag them.
