One reason could be fear - maybe they were threatened, or the situation itself was scary. In this case, she was seventeen.
Or fame - celebrities and people around them have a lot of power, and could do something to make the victim never come forward.
Maybe denial that the situation didn't go down like that.

Just because it's coming out now doesn't mean something's fishy. It's possible it took a lot for her to even come out at all.

there can be many reasons why victims don’t speak up about it. First, he is a celebrity and to sue one is extremely difficult, time-comsuming and expensive. It's already hard to sue a normal person for rape, but a celeb who get the best lawyers and have their fanbases, who slut shame and threat victims?

I also read that the girl he raped in 2001 has autism and some other medical conditions, so more things lawyers can use against her

Her story doesn't add up, and I'm not saying that because Nick is a celeb. As someone who has been in/around/interacting in the music industry since the 90s, here's what really sticks out to me:

First off, tours like that don't have an "autograph line" and you most definitely could not just join one even if there was. You'd have to have purchased a VIP ticket/package, and those events are run before the concert. Considering this was when BSB was HUGE, their schedules would have been managed every moment of the day. She also said he asked her back to the bus while she was waiting in the autograph line, which would not happen due to the issues it would cause with that many female fans around. Band dudes will generally send a member of their team or security to bring women back for them. Second, she says she was led to the back of the bus to a bed and pushed down onto it. Tour buses, unlike campers, don't have beds in the back. They have anywhere from 6-12 bunks along the sides of the bus. You could not physically be "pushed back" onto one, either, due to how they're set up. Three, I find it odd that someone her age at the time, with Autism & Cerebral Palsy, would be going to a large concert alone. There's no mention of anyone else being with her at the time, no friends, parents, people she met up with...No one. Considering this was 2001, cell phones weren't as common and that's a 17 year old with special needs alone in a 23,000 seat venue.

There's also the fact that her alleged former Twitter account has come out and there's some pretty damning evidence involved with that if it proves to be her actual account.

I'm not gonna say dudes drowning in women can't be rapists, nor will I say that waiting two decades is necessarily a red flag, because some women just can't confront what happened to them, but the glaring inaccuracies and outright provable fallacies in her accusation make it clear the story she's telling is just that.

Idk if you have seen her alleged tweets, but if the account/tweets are real, her case is going to get thrown out immediately. She was a huge fan and active on stan twt, people seem to remember her. She was still tweeting support for the whole Carter family as recently as 2012 (11 years after she was allegedly irreparably harmed by Nick), and even told someone via DMs that Nick merely insulted her and never did anything to her like what Michelle went through. That'd be Michelle from the group Dream, whose accusations against Nick made in 2017 were basically exactly the same as what this woman's lawsuit alleges, just with dates, locations, and minor details changed.
