I'm so excited for the next gen Switch!

I'm hopeful with the emphasis on how this is different from the Switch will prevent the confusion that the Wii vs WiiU had... but also, being backwards compatible with the Switch should be helpful.

TBH, I really just want a more powerful Switch anyway so I get a bit less lag in games (like Civ 7) and some more modern releases can come to it (like Two Point Museum that's been announced for all the other systems).

I don't think people will get confused since it just being called the Switch 2 makes it clear it's the successor like Playstation has never had any trouble with their main consoles versus I saw a post about someone getting confused on which Xbox was the newest out of their recent ones and bought the wrong one

I think the timing of the Switch release was unfortunate as it came out when tech was moving really fast so hopefully the Switch 2 development had better timing in regards to how well it can perform.

Yeah, there's something to be said for just increasing in number. And they did fine with the DS vs 3DS, which is still one of my favorite consoles ever. Ten years of games that I could enjoy across versions. And the Switch looks to be doing the same.

That's a fair point! It seems to me like they will be focusing on some of the issues people have had with the Switch, like with the zoom-in on the extra stability for the joycons and moving them to being inserts rather than slide ons, the wider kickstand (not that I ever used it, but it'll be nice for those who do).

If only Xbox just did what Windows did and skipped a number going from the Xbox to the Xbox 3 so they got caught up with the PS3 It's really a situation where the Switch 2 just needed to be a more powerful Switch but I wasn't expecting Nintendo to take it that literally as they seem to have done lol.

I agree! I was kind of expecting something unexpected, just because it's Nintendo! They're always whipping out something weird and cool. "Did you know you wanted an alarm clock with Zelda on it? Did you know you needed a cardboard build kit? Did you know you needed nunchuck controls so you can pretend you're actually swinging a sword? NOW YOU DO."

Must've taken a mountains worth of restraint not to mess with the Switch for the Switch 2 in some way and actually just upgrade it
