On February 11, 2025, ADOR expanded the scope of its preliminary injunction request to include not only advertising, but also all musical activities, including NJZ's writing, composing, performing, and singing, and all other ancillary activities.
This came shortly after we reported that Chairman Bang Sihyuk had put pressure on the Complex concert officials, so we suspect that the decision was taken in retaliation for the failed attempt to cancel the performance. Until a few days ago, ADOR continued to state its position on NJZ's independent activities, but did not reveal that its request for an injunction was aimed at banning all entertainment activities.
This is a completely different attitude than the one widely reported when the injunction was filed on January 6. ADOR is apparently only questioning NJZ's advertising activities and claiming that it wants to avoid confusion between fans and advertisers, but in reality it is asking the court to ban all of NJZ's entertainment activities.
This appears to be an attempt to infringe on NJZ's professional freedom and at the same time avoid public condemnation by not disclosing it publicly.
The essence of NJZ is musical activity, and limiting it is tantamount to denying the very reason for NJZ's existence. ADOR filed a preliminary injunction to block all NJZ activities from the outset.
ADOR chose to expand the scope of its injunction request, initially filed to maintain its status as the agency of NewJeans and to prohibit the signing of independent advertising contracts, because NewJeans have been increasing their activities, announcing the release of new songs as well as participation in large-scale overseas performances, while the injunction process is still ongoing.
This is not an attempt to restrict their activities but rather to emphasize that they should continue their entertainment career 'together with Ador' and 'in compliance with their exclusive contracts'.
As previously stated, ADOR has never pressured event organizers in any way, nor is the expansion of the injunction request a retaliatory measure.
Tomorrow in court, ADOR aims to clarify any misunderstandings held by the artists and seek a ruling affirming that ADOR remains NewJeans’ agency
