Brave Girls - Videos of them performing their catchy song Rollin' for military went viral


EXID - A fan took a fancam of Hani's hip movements, which many found attractive. This renewed interest in the group!


Weeekly - Their fun, upbeat song was extremely viral

IDK, it's all relative, right?

For example, with Brave Girls, they were on the verge of disbandment, and after their viral moment, they went from selling 1-2K an album to selling 75K and had two more hits.

Fifty Fifty is almost certainly never going to top Cupid (any more than, say, Rose is likely to top APT.), but Love Tune is already their best selling album ever, they have tons of interest in their next release (teasers hitting million+ views in record time for them) and Starry Night and SOS charted better than their previous releases did (once you take out the virality, Cupid wasn't that popular in Korea).

EXID went on to have five more top 10 hits and multiplied their sales 10x, and stably too. They went from 1.5K~ an album to 15K being their lowest sales.

So, sure, none of them became the new BlackPink or TWICE or IVE, but the viral moment allowed them to get into a much more stable position afterwards. There are much larger agencies that have squandered similar chances. (Perpetually bitter about Pledis fucking over Pristin when them being basically that gen's IVE was handed to them on a silver platter.)
