It helps when you have no bones Everything else can be easily rearranged because none of it is rigid. If you take out a humans bones they could too, though I do not suggest trying that yourself

It may just make it even worse but some male octopuses don’t survive mating because the female sometimes eats them after Sometimes male octopuses have to poison the female before mating so they can survive the encounter. Most female octopuses don’t survive childbirth either. There really is a wide variety of options for what happens to octopuses after mating and they all such big time
