Kang Daniel, who received permission to continue his independent activities by court curve, has established a one-man agency in preparation for his solo debut.
For his solo debut, Kang Daniel recently set up a new office and began a new agency called “KONNECT Entertainment.” The name denotes his wishes to connection Korea with the world through his solo activities.
Kang Daniel greeted fans on a surprise Instagram live broadcast on the 9th and talked about his fresh new start. The broadcast had 150,000 simultaneous users watching within its first minute, which confirms the fan’s warm love for him. Although he appeared nervous, Kang Daniel thanked his fans for waiting and told them that he was working hard on his new music.
Last month, Kang Daniel departed from LM Entertainment after citing an “exclusive contract effect suspension application” filed by his team in March at the 51st Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court, and immediately began to prepare his new one-person agency.
A KONNECT Entertainment official explained, “after long deliberation, the direction of his new one-man agency had to be established so that we could accommodate his long-term activities as a solo artist.
Earlier this year, Kang Daniel determined that it would be a challenge for him to remain at LM Entertainment due to their violation of his exclusive contract. The court ultimately suspended his contract with LM Entertainment, and Kang Daniel made the decision to continue his solo activities regardless of LM.
The court found the joint business contract LM Entertainment signed with a third party on January 28, 2019 was a contract that transferred the majority of management rights for Kang Daniel. As Kang Daniel had not been contacted for prior consent, LM Entertainment's actions not only went against their exclusive contract, they also broke the truth that is the foundation of the exclusive contract. It was then decided LM Entertainment's actions made it difficult to maintain a relationship between the label and Kang Daniel. The exclusive contract between Kang Daniel and LM Entertainment was suspended as a result, and LM Entertainment were not allowed to interfere in Kang Daniel's activities. They also could not negotiate or sign contracts on his behalf or require him to pursue activities on their behalf.
Kang Daniel plans to finalize the date for his solo debut and showcase details soon. Kang Daniel, a former member of the group Wanna One, was planning a solo career after completing group activities in January. Despite the delay in his solo debut, he has been receiving unwavering love from fans, and was first place in idol brand reputation charts for 62 consecutive weeks.
