This reaction just came out, and it's very interesting.



They interpreted Wings (the "spread your wings butterfly" song) as a tribute to those that had passed away.

I did not know butterflies were this kind of spiritual symbol, but apparently they are in many cultures. Here's an excerpt from one of many online sources:

Butterflies are a common symbol of death amongst many cultures and religions. In fact, when conducting research for this guide, we learnt that almost every country in the world recognises the connection between butterflies and death.​

We think that this symbolism started back in Ancient Greece, where a butterfly sighting after the passing of a loved one was seen to represent the soul of the deceased. This symbolism is still widely respected today.​

Now I understand why they sang "spread your wings" 13 times. For a pop song it seems excessive. But for a gospel song it makes total sense.
