I didn’t feel they were overly touchy by Korean standards from my knowledge about Koreans and touchiness but I might be wrong

I didn't think it was overly touchy as well. I'm just speculating, but I suppose Koreans were surprised at the action of being touchy.
I don't know. Maybe they thought the performance would have been different or something.
