Supposedly borscht gets its name from borshevik, a type of hogweed found in Russia. I always knew about the plants and knew about borscht, but I never even noticed that the names are so similar and now I’m shook. :coronawimwim:

For those of you interested here’s modern day borshevik, it’s a poisonous plant that causes burns and we were always taught to avoid it.
