I actually think it's pretty cringy.
But this is what happens when a new group blows up on YouTube and feels like they need to go on tour asap.
I'm of two minds abt this cos I like Everglow n I watched all their fancams of their first night tat I found earlier(not all the later ones cos repetitive).
On one hand it connects them to the American audience used to the songs they covered, e.g. Beyond, Gaga, Bruno Mars n I can't remember who else rn.
On the other hand it is a filling-time up technique when their own songs aren't enuf for the length of time of their concert yet (so far).
{Depends on how much the tickets cost ig.} [also my answer is kinda specific to Everglow cos I do like them, Idk how much did Itzy do covers in their first US tour to fill-up time?]
Anyway, I'm not the paying audience so my opinion tat it's ok is only worth less than US$0.02 (which I may or may not hv since I'm not USian.)
Btw, the audience of their concerts in the fancams I watched were quite happy with Everglow so I think few minded the covers. They just connected with each other during the performance, in fact one fancam during the second concert had two sound outages in succession during a song(Bon Bon Chocolate, their first title track) n the audience sang to the group for ard 30-40 seconds till the end while the group continued dancing the choreo n the timing really impressed me since there was no music at all then: tats a loyal fan base right there knowing the song lyrics of the first title track of a one-year old group even one year later with 3 comebacks n (admittedly) 10 songs total but still, respect. Big respect. So smoke tat in ur pipe.
