This is because Benadryl is considered too sedating and it’s thought that your judgement becomes too impaired. A pilot needs to wait at least 60 hours from the last dose before flying.

the other allergies - benadryl

any antihistamine produces significant drowsiness in most people, not just pilots

when I flip burgers at BK, I'm equally mindful of that

A lot of people use it for allergies, though it does indeed make you very sleepy and some doctors have been trying to move away from it for that reason.
