Apparently there's controversy as to which version of StayC's Poppy is better. I disagree and believe they are both amazing. But each has it's own positives
The Japanese Version
The Japanese MV is sounds more natural as far as the use of language. The MV is more fun to watch but takes a major it on Yoons and Sumins ugly outfits. Sumins dress is to big for her frame and Yoons vomit yellow dress is hideous and to big. Insults to both girls who don't deserve it. Everyone else's outfits are tolerable but could have been better. Isa won the outfit lottery in this MV.
The close-ups are great and well edited in to the MV. The CGI is great, and works with the lively nature of the song. The Green Room with CGI doesn't detract from the fun over all feel of the MV and doesn't make me mad like it does with ITZY's MV.
The Korean Version
The Korean version being a Performance MV is much simpler but superior to the Japanese version in several ways. The outfits for the Korean version are better in every way! The only thing that I don't like, and it's purely a personal opinion is Sumins back pack. I'll never get why they make idols wear cat backpacks while they dance... It's dumb.
The CG is great and adds to the overall aesthetic of the MV. I've never seen CG used in a performance version but I love it in this MV. The dancing is way better and you can tell they have had a lot more practice. It's snappier and well connected! I want to say that it's filmed at a faster frame rate which works really well to make the dancing seem better put together. The part I adore the most is the techno voice change they give J during her first solo. OMFG, I LOVE it, it's AMAZING, and she may have just won the StayC bias battle thats been going on with me since I decided to like them!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall the the girls, if it's possible, look like they are having even more fun and are more comfortable in the Korean version. Their smiles feel a lot more genuine than the Japanese version. This is probably because they are singing in their natural language so they don't have to concentrate as hard. The downside is you can tell that Poppy is a translated song and doesn't flow as nicely!
The best part of both MV is the kitty ears at the end with the pop sound. If that don't melt your heart you must not have one.
I don't think I could choose a favorite because both are so much fun and each offer awesome variations.
