I feel like if Katseye weren't in Hybe I'd appreciate them way more. I think a K-pop inspired group in the west is like a good idea. I just don't like the precedent Hybe is setting. A group who was formed by what I would call a psychological abusive survival show they didn't know was happening. Like, is it really worth it?
I'm not saying Western entertainment is spotless and less abusive, I'm saying the K-pop system has a streamlined and naturally abusive way that trains idols to be 'perfect' and uses legal loopholes (at least in south korea) to get around their crimes. I think we need to fix the industry first before copying the formula for different regions.

I will say about Dear Alice is that I do like the idea that instead of being a 'global' K-pop group (I think global groups is a shitty term and is another rant for another day) they seem to be marketed to be a British group who are simply under a k-pop company. They seemed to have the idea of previous british boygroups in mind when training/marketing and I think that's a better of evolving way western groups rather than 'a k-pop group but make them american' or smth. Or maybe I just respect British music more than American idfk.
