ppl should watch how they talk about idols (1 Viewer)

i saw a post recently bringing up the topic of an idol's english. this idol speaks fluently enough but is not a native speaker and has never lived in an english speaking country (or gone on like those immersive exchange or whatever). these people were discussing how they thought their english was cringe and awkward, that the idol was not even pronouncing any of the words correctly and they thought it was just annoying in general to hear them speak. at first, i was like 'ok regular useless internet discussion' but then i put myself in this idol's place if they saw this and ouch. ngl i would cry a little. i do empathize with this idol too because i learned english all by himself and often feel insecure because my pronunciation is not perfect so double ouch.​

Thats so heartbreaking to hear but it’s unfortunately too common. “Fans” often say things without thinking of the reprecutions of their words. If an idol sees that they may think that their time spent learning English was for nothing. Learning a new language is not easy by any means especially if you have not been exposed to that language by living where it is commonly spoken for example.

I totally agree, like imagine an Idol going online and seeing a gazillion people making fun of them and they can't even do anything about it because of their "Image" it's so heartbreaking to see them so helpless and having to go on with there lives knowing a lot of people are constantly talking about them and then wonder why they look angry

they have so much pressure on their shoulders and it's really sad to see that some people don't seem to care about that or even see them as humans

yeah i don't think they understood how hard it is to switch between languages rapidly or even speak fluently two languages
