Source: Rain Expresses Shock After Remix Of His Track “Gang” Hits No. 1 On Realtime Charts

Rain

got a big surprise over the chart success of a remix of his viral song “Gang”!
On June 4, H1GHR MUSIC artists Jay Park, HAON, pH-1, and Sik-K dropped an official remix of Rain’s track “Gang,” a song that he released in December 2017. “Gang” has recently become a popular meme and the subject of many parodies, and Rain has talked about how he’s embraced its newfound viral status and is enjoying it.

The new remix by the H1GHR MUSIC crew came out at 6 p.m. KST, and by 11 p.m. it had hit No. 1 on the realtime charts of Melon, Genie, and Bugs.

Rain shared a screenshot of the remix at No. 1 on the charts and wrote, “This is… What? Why is this happening… This is weird though…”
“I was so shocked,” he continued. “This shouldn’t happen… We made it for fun…”

pH-1 wrote on Instagram, “‘Gang Remix’ hit #1 on all charts in Korea, thanks to everyone especially Rain. It’s also the 3rd anniversary of H1GHR MUSIC. We are grateful for all the love and support you’ve shown us. Let’s all keep spreading positivity as one. Most of all, #blacklivesmatter #justiceforgeorge.”

This is actually really heartwarming to see, both coz Rain himself never expected this would happen lol. And of course because this was done to support the BLM movement too

For those unfamiliar with "Gang", it was a so bad it's good song by Rain that was universally hated by everyone but then became the biggest meme lol. DKDKTV do a pretty good job of explaining here:

He's handled it really well lol, he adopted a self deprecating style of humor in his interview with Yoo Jaesuk and that won a lot of netizens over
I've seen people saying how Rain used to be really cool but still tries to be cool, kinda like JYP oppar

So proud that they did this for a noble cause and everything. I was so surprised to see it even happen and seeing it go to the very top just... wonderful
