Did you know that bricks date back to 7000 BC? Bricks are one of the oldest man made building materials. They were discovered in southern Turkey at the site of an ancient settlement around the city of Jericho. Bricks were made by hand until about 1885. Once the Industrial Revolution broke out, the brickmaking machinery was introduced. Bricks made by hand used to sit out for days in the sun to solidify. Now they sit in a kiln for hours.​
