Real talk: Is Aespa worthy of being top GG over other GGs this gen? (1 Viewer)

In 2021 they were rolling out the red carpet for Aespa to be crowned the top GG of the 4th gen. But then IVE debuted and they took Korea by storm. Then GIDLE surged back up and dominated the K charts. Then NewJeans debuted and they shook the whole industry.

Aespa has a huge fandom but I don't think they will follow the same path as SNSD, Twice or BP. There won't be one true clear top GG in the 4th gen because there's so many good groups that excel at various things.

I really like Aespa and their music. But to be crowned top GG of 4th gen? Idk man.. maybe? I think it's just too overhyped. But I also think BP is too overhyped (no shade). What I am questioning myself is, what do they have what other groups don't have? And what makes them so special that their fandom is so much bigger than other groups. I will never understand. There are so many good GG in 4th gen. But yeah, I'm definitely no expert. There must be something that gives some groups more eyes on 'em than others.

They are from a Big 3/4 so that automatically gives them a bulk of their fans. Plus they have a stan attractor Winter, a Chinese member Ningning and high cost production concepts.

The attention span of todays kpop fan might not allow a clear cut top girl group of this generation. Like you said seems like every month a new group comes out and replaces the previous. At this point I won't be surprised if another group comes out before the end of the year and overshadows NewJeans.

Yeah.. true true.. There's alot to take into account when thinking about what makes one group so much more known than others. And you listed some of them here above.
Anyway, as you mentioned earlier, there are more GG that achieved alot of things. So to decide who deserves the crown of top gg of 4th gen, I wouldn't know. I'm no expert. But I wouldn't be mad if aespa gets the crown.
Honestly I don't even know NewJeans yet, but I saw their name come by on social media several times. Maybe something to check out.

There's so many. Sometimes I can't even keep track anymore Q_Q. I wouldn't be surprised either..

Even in previous generations, chart performances used to fluctuate. Some comebacks are national hits and some are just moderate next to huge songs. So far considering both physical and digital sales, aespa is leading but they aren't untouchable tbh. IVE, NewJeans and GIDLE are all candidates that could be on top someday.

Aespa is still killing it and only time will tell. There's not really any reason to pit all these groups against each other, especially given that that one group debuted like yesterday... we'll just have to wait and see.
