I still feel similarly about this, I love korean variety shows and at best they make my cheeks and stomach hurt from laughing too much. But often the direction is all over the place and clear segment and plot of the episodes is just sacrificed to get more screentime for most popular guests and jokes that they keep showing again and again. I miss the clear formula that lot of western shows have, especially with competition shows.
Does it bother you or is it easy for you to keep up with korean varities and competition shows?

One of my favorite past time is to watch Korean varieties such as Running Man, but I have noticed sth that bothers me alot. I feel like it's pretty common for major parts of the shows to get cut cause they want to give more time for more popular guests or jokes they consider more funny. This however disturbs to flows of the shows a lot.
If you think of American (or some other western) reality shows, especially competition ones tend to have really formulatic structure in episodes. For example X-factor live shows, they perform the songs, judges judge the performance and in the end of episode two of the ones that got least votes go against each other in the singing battle and judges vote who stays. The formula is simple to follow and continues almost every episode. But if you compare that to shows like MixNine, Show me the money, Unpretty Rapstar and the Unit, I feel like I don't understand the structure of these shows most of the times, I have no idea what is happening next and why. This is especially true with MixNine, I'm just utterly confused what is happening on that show which makes it impossible to follow. Last time I was in board with the show was when they auctioned people.
There is another complaint as well other than episode formula being confusing as hell- when they cut major parts of the games. Running man and other shows that have games tend to do this, they cut parts that they think are less funny or parts that just involve less popular members. This is really annoying cause since you look forward those parts. For example Big Bang visited one show (can't remember name) where everyone did a dish to be judged. But after 4th Big Bang members dish had been judged.. the show just cut to another segment.
Shortly:
1. Korean shows episode formulas should be more clear-cut so it'd be easier to follow the show
2. They shouldn't cut out major parts of the games and activities of shows to showcase funniest jokes or more popular members/guests
