The latest in this year’s series of solo projects from Blackpink’s four members, the quick-moving Ruby leans heavily into the ideas that dominated R&B-leaning pop in the 2000s and ’10s, sometimes updating them in intriguing fashion. NGL, some absolute questionable inclusions on the list, but I can't fault these two choices. Even though Chaeyoung's album isn't really my thing, it's very cohesive and has a clear vision, and it sounds like something only she could release.
