Romain Grosjean has walked away from one of the most horrific crashes in Formula 1 in a long time, at the Bahrain GP 2020 this weekend.
His car split completely in half, and burst into a fireball!
He survived the crash due to two things; his fire proof suit and, most evidently from the immediate impact, the car's safety Halo. The Halo is a protective barrier that covers the driver's head, and it's purpose is to take the force of heavy impacts.
I'm so please he walked away from this. He's very lucky to still be alive. The race officials acted fast and were excellent.

Watching live is scary, but here is the official Sky Sports upload of the crash. Note: It's not graphic at all, but I'll still put it in a spoiler.
Does anyone here watch F1?
I've said it for a while now, that Grosjean cannot handle Formula 1. The amount of times this man crashes is unreal. In comparison to the rest of the drivers, Grosjean seems to have poor judgement and is even reckless. It's been frustrating watching the man drive at times as he has put himself and the other drivers in danger quite often.
This crash could have been avoided, but he completely cut across the car behind him, totally unaware but he had all the time to check. Yet the car behind had no time to react and spun Grosjean out, sending him into the barrier. It was a reckless manoeuvre from Grosjean.
It was only a matter of time before something like this was going to happen. The odds of a horrific crash at the hands of Grosjean is something I've anticipated for a while. He needs to step down from F1, to the less powerful cars and racing where his poor judgement won't endanger himself or others quite as much as it does in F1.
