It seems like the rumors are true and she's just waiting for her contact to expire as well, the next year.

Not sure honestly. Rumor has it that maybe CL bought the rights over 2ne1's name and this comes because it seems she also has all the rights of her own artistic name. Given YG's situation at the moment I'm not able to tell if, the girls reunite again, they will allow them to use 2ne1 or any other name associated with the group.

YG still might hold trademark on it so not sure.. I don't think they will be as dirty about it as SM was with Shinhwa (they trademarked name Shinhwa after Shinhwa left the company), they haven't sued their formest artist before and most have kept their stage names as far as I know. But if they wanted to be difficult I guess they could. Same with 2NE1's songs, I think they are owned by YG so I'm not sure if they would be able to perform them anymore.

If I'm not mistaken, YHS and Se7en came up with the group name as it is right now because the name they wanted in first place was already taken by other group. They could call themselves XXI or 21 as those are way too generic and I don't think YG registered them as part of the group's iconography.
Anyways, I think is too soon to make any assumptions. We still have to wait for CL's album, Minzy out of Nugu Works and Dara of YG...

Well i think it works with the trademark nevertheless, MBK's interference is probably related to other stuff. Companies can be really dirty, I remember JYJ saying how SM tried to stop them from manifacturing their physical cds. Kim Jong Kook spoke on show how his former company called different producers to prevent them from working with him so when he contacted these producers they suddenly didn't have songs for him anymore. So it's not necessarily trying to stop careers of former artist with trademark and other legal measures, but simply via connections.

I believe they can perform live as they've been doing now but they won't be able to include those songs in any studio recording or re-recording for that matter.
