the textbooks have been lying to us! :D
The textbooks will tell you everything you need to know about a tiny posh part of London. Outside of that is a minefield of accents and dialects throughout the rest of Britain, and they’re all amazing (and yes, in my area we call literally everyone love, even strangers)

I know it might seem that way, but I really hope that you know these days most students of English language do use other sources than textbooks and we do indeed know of different accents and people calling each other "love" no matter how weird it sounds (depending on the learner´s culture).
just, I really hope that you know that I wasn´t serious and that you really don´t think ESL students are not that dumb and narrow minded.

It’s a cute quirk we all have, and it helps us tell where non-locals are from. When I visit relatives in Scotland I still say love, even though everybody there says hen. They always laugh at me, at least they know it’s meant as a generaterm of endearment :lisalaugh:

Oh no I knew you weren’t being serious, in other nations it’s no doubt the same. You’d probably get a culture shock though if you come across somebody that’s British but non-London without knowing:lisalaugh:
