This happened on Tuesday night at home. I was watching TV in my room and I noticed that sparks were flying out from the outlet behind my bed. There was nothing connected to that outlet. Shocked, I ran over to where my mom was and told her what happened. She was confused at first until I took her to my room. Then she saw what happened and we moved my bed far away from the outlet. After that, my mom turned off the power from our apartment from our breaker box (all apartments in the building I live in have one).

So were without power for a few hours without knowing what the do. We ended up calling the office to get to the emergency repair line option and sent them a message about the outlet problem. The Super came late at night almost like 15 minutes to fix the thing. My room was a mess because he needed to get where the problem was. He brought everything that was needed along with a light.

The problem was this and it was burnt on the side. And the damage came from me moving my bed constantly. It must have created friction to the point that got burnt from one side.

He tested the wires to see if the power is off before removing the outlet and replacing it with the new one. We put it back on its original outlet cover (it wasn't broken). And I was forced to sleep in a bed that was moved too far from its original location.

I was glad that thing was over and what happened did not cause a fire.​

I know even though my mom was scared the most about it. I was just shocked, but at least the landlord of the apartment buildings came out at night just to fix the out.
