Seagull’s teaching me something new (1 Viewer)

So my mom and I were eating some fast food in our car, while also throwing some pieces to crows/seagulls. My mom hands me half of her very large burger and says to give it to them and that they’ll rip it into smaller pieces… Well, a seagull must have overheard her and took it as a challenge because I threw it out the window and one of them ate this burger whole
I was extremely worried for it because it at first looked like it had trouble getting it to go down and distanced itself from the rest of the birds. So I looked up to see if seagull’s were able to swallow a large amount of food at once and it turns out they’ll swallow just about anything (rodents/birds) whole. I mean I knew that that’s how they ate because they don’t have teeth but I just thought they wouldn’t swallow something so large.

Is that kind of food not that bad for them? Idk about their diet typically but my worry would more be that they could overall have a health decline with that kind of food. But like I said idk their diet so maybe it’s not that bad

They gobble down food all the time.
you'd think they would choke at large food
but they seem to handle it well.

Okay I looked it up and now I feel even worse, they shouldn’t be given most human food, especially anything with lots of fat or salt. So pretty much fed like most other kind of birds (fish is fine) I is so sorry Mr. Seagull I’ve just always fed birds whenever I get a quick bite to eat

Ngl I never thought much about it in the past but since we got a dog it's been different since they can only have certain human foods, so I've gotten aware of it with other animals too. Before that wouldn't have crossed my mind to think about
