While everyone's hyping the official GTA 6 trailer atm, there's another game series that should be mentioned too...
The graphics are great and all, but that's not the point here...
Athough there were rather basic gameplay mechanics, the first part (Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice) is one of the most impressive games I've ever played. You play Senua, a Norse female warrior. What really distinguishes this game from similar titles like 'Dark Souls' is the fact that Senua suffers from a severe form of psychosis. The devs talked with psychiatrists when creating the concept and making the game. They also talked with people suffering from psychosis. The results are impressive.
When you stop playing a game temporary (like I did) and spend the whole night reading articles about psychosis instead (to understand the concept and the player character), the game story does everything right.
