so i'm gonna come out to my friends of 8+ years this saturday and not really sure what to expect
plus it's the first time i'm coming out to anyone irl

Came out some years ago, thought I was accepted by my parents but recently they made it clear I was not.

I had an horrific time. I came out and my whole family shunned me
as it wasn't 'normal' by their standards.

So I just pretend so they don't get mad again.

I'm so sorry you had an experience like that. family are supposed to be the ones who support and love you no matter what. but i'm sure you have others who love and support you for who you are, that's real family even if you aren't related by blood. i support you as well

Came out a couple months ago actually - my mom was looking through my phone bc we have trust issues and she was looking through my search history and found that I was googling a bunch of pride flags (it was for an art project) and started interrogating me until I told the truth - she was fine with me being bi but was also like "You shouldn't be stereotyping yourself. You're too young to know. Stop trying to fit in." so yeahhhhh

If they're your true friends, they'll love and accept you no matter what - good luck though!
