Disclaimer: I'm biracial and spent the first years of my life growing up on New Orleans traditions because of my grandfather so yes, I'm allowed to talk about it and I will. You can take your pasty white ass out of this thread if you're gonna try and argue.

I'm not going to sit and let people say "they didn't know" anymore, because they did. It's impossible to not know, especially when so many fellow idols have already been cancelled for it. The point here is, they just don't care. Giselle especially, she's very educated on pop culture, she speaks English, she went to an international high school. There is NO WAY she didn't know what she said.

Do you want to know what this feels like? It feels like deep down, there's some anti-blackness, and they (whoever says it or approves of saying it) either don't want black people to have ownership of something or don't think it's that big of a deal because "it's just a word". This word has a major history behind it.

And for anyone who thinks that it's different when it's put in songs, or that people can say it if they don't mean it negatively, I am begging you to take a step back and open your mind. This word is not for you. So don't say it. It's as easy as that.

Hold your faves accountable.

I agree with you but what can I say, even in the 21st Century, people live in the 19th.
And many in power don't even do anything to eradicate or stop that, they think feelings and sentiments of non-white people don't matter. :lazypotato:

Not to be cliche, but it's 2021. Even if she didn't have those experiences, she should still be held accountable. I don't care if the idol should know, wouldn't know, couldn't know, didn't know. That excuse is some bs.

And they know what slurs are. They have their own that other races/nationalities have used. They know the purpose of them, what they mean, and what type of emotions could come up if someone were to call them one.

If they wanted to stop using it, they would.

They just don't care.

bending backwards to defend giselle or any idol in this situation by saying "they didn't know" is pointless, it only makes those people look stupid and uneducated which they're not because most of them are grown adults with access to the internet. and it's ridiculous how sm just tried to sweep it under the rug by making the video private like how are you going to make idols apologise for dating but not for saying a racial slur...

Spill sister. So tired of kpoppies trying to silence the voices of POC. It ain't about being ''too sensitive'', it's about being socially aware. It's 2021, it's time to wake the hell up, it's time to stand for the rights of others and help them fight.

Mouthing the N word is just as bad as saying it, it just shows it's in your mind, it's in your vocabulary and that's a big red flag in my book.

It's kinda ridiculous that idols keep getting caught saying or doing insensitive stuff, yet the companies can't bother educating them if so many people seem to believe it's simply about "not getting it :(((". Like sure, I don't like assuming people's upbringing, but it's not like you have to be a cultural specialist simply to find out what one of the world's most used slurs means. I highly doubt that an adult who has received basic education and has access to the internet and yet lacks this little knowledge exists. And why even use the word all, as if it being "just a little bit offensive" or "not that bad" was any better?? If it's offensive, it's offensive.

I like Giselle a lot, but she especially with her background absolutely should've known better - she even knew not to say the word out loud. No way around it. Hope she really takes this to heart. Korea in general really should get their head out of their ass and begin working on basic human decency in this regard if they truly care about international attention.

But then again, if Seungri still has some delusional fans who believe he's done nothing wrong and is simply a victim, then I guess nothing will phase some people. Sigh.

Sadly, I think this will be forgotten in a no time and when people bring this up in a year or two fans will still be defending her and saying “that was a long time ago!” And “she’s changed!!”
unfortunately you're right, especially given that she's apologized now. istg every time an idol apologizes, nonblack fans are quick to hold that apology over our heads and get mad at us when we don't accept, as if we have to forgive no matter what.

and personally i don't even want to accept said apology because it's weak af and giselle knew better anyway
