most local acts in my country - all these big american artists have their own sound and branding which makes me understand why and how they appeal to their fanbase, but in poland most of the mainstream artists are just carbon copies of their western equivalent with all using the same songwriting team which strips them of any originality even further.

from actual iconic artists, i'll have to say the beatles. these old men were disgusting towards women and their music - while it might have been revolutionary at that time - sounds rather basic now. idk why people are so quick to attack teenage girls for liking boybands like one direction while simultaneously acting like those four men are the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel.
