I hope this isn't victim-blaming as im not 100% sure abt this: do you think tat the depressed will be ok 24/7 even w/treatment?
Idk if R**** W*******, A****** B*******, K*** S****, G** H*** were under treatment? But other than putting them on 24hr suicide prevention observation, I believe they hv to keeep going for treatment.
My thot is if T****** doesn't want to be under 24 hr observation, n if she ever decided to nobody could stop her. I believe she has to want to go for treatment, be treated by a professional n never succumb to her demons; obviously I know zilch about her but I worry about this, especially after the recent events this year.
I do worry less but deep within I wrestle with the possibility.
SM alone can't be 100% responsible unless the artist hands them the responsibility as well as the authority.
I don't know if anyone wants that.

its been 2 years, I don't think a 2 years ago event is key here. Unless you mean someone else from SM/kpop idol is vulnerable now. I hope they get the help necessary, but I still believe no one can force them, unless they give SM the responsibility. I do believe their contracts kinda do give them the responsibility/authority obliquely but if they(SM) had direct responsibility I would be against tat. Maybe joint responsibility, kinda how JYPE/Mina seem to be handling it.
Don't hold SM totally responsible here.

dint know abt mental health professionals doing this, so maybe more reason to lay off SM abt this unless SM brings in Korean speaking foreign professionals maybe.
Just hoping for the best for Taeyeon n all other kpop artists tat they get well n all live long healthy successful lives.

I think you misunderstand, i'm not advocating to blame SM it's all their fault since it certainly is not but I would like to know more about what they are doing for artists with mental health issues since this situation raises a red flag for me that I would like addressed as if SMs handling is inadequate then I would like sufficient improvements to be made so that if we end up here again we know it's just bad luck on SM and they are doing everything.

Please do remember, as stated before, that SM is one of the biggest companies with a huge amount of idols under them. As much as people want to see these tragedies as just an "SM thing", it's statistically just as probable that these are just two horrible coincidences that don't have much to do with the company itself.

And please do also note, that we do not know the details, nor is it possible to make up statistics with just two public instances. Just because the two shared a company doesn't mean jack shit until there is solid proof of that the problems lie in SM or that they denied health services - which is pretty unprobable. Sure, the companies can and should do their best to provide assistance, but unfortunately the assistance is not always enough, no matter how good it is.

This is a very tiring topic, honestly. The problem lies in the whole society that sees mental health problems as a weakness and doesn't really dare talk about them publicly. Instead of steering your accusations towards individuals, allocate your energy towards making the situation better. Share your interests towards improving mental health, help and inspire people. Spreading help is much more productive than stirring up drama. I'm quite sure that's what Jonghyun and Sulli would've wanted too: to make things better, not create more hate.

The general public knows nothing when it comes to cases like these, all we can do is speculate so please take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

I think you misunderstand, i'm not advocating to blame SM it's all their fault since it certainly is not but I would like to know more about what they are doing for artists with mental health issues since this situation raises a red flag for me that I would like addressed as if SMs handling is inadequate then I would like sufficient improvements to be made so that if we end up here again we know it's just bad luck on SM and they are doing everything.

I dint mean you specifically, sorry it wasn't clear, I think I overreacted to this whole thread; I just keep seeing everywhere (other threads/interwebs) "SM needs to do more/get them well" but I think it's more complicated than tat.
Also their methods of handling their artists mental well-being is, to me, a private issue.
I know tat in 2018 Tae mentioned tat theres a kpop idol depression group(chat) but tats their voluntary statement(maybe cos they know we're worried). Other than tat, it's up to them how much they want to reveal, I believe.
We can advocate for SM n other idol companies to hv better procedures in place but I still believe it's their call.
I don't think theres any easy answers here. I don't mean to say don't ask SM to hv better procedures but overall Im only seeing snap reactions, which may be why I made snap judgement here without fully understanding wat you were saying, sorry.

again I hope I'm not victim blaming cos if any one thinks I am I'll edit/delete this, but you guys don't deduce I was talking abt Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade earlier. I hope they got treatment for their depression but my belief is they've had to want to be helped but they were too deep in their depression to come out of it. I won't say it's no ones fault but it happened n even in a country with mental health professionals, this still happened. Idek wat I'm saying, just try n understand it's complicated. I was so sad when those things happened n I'm sad now, but maybe a little inured.

One bright spot is tat when Christopher reeve(superman to people around my age) had his accident, he talked with his wife abt ending his life but they both decided not to, n Robin Williams reportedly went to him n cheered him up. This is robin Williams, who was himself suffering from depression. It's not hopeless but it takes many many small steps to get to a better place. I wish it wasn't so. Talk to each other, listen to one another. Read kodoku's posts/threads n encouragements.
Tats all I got sth now, I'm glad I found/Miyeon-founder-nim n her minionsco-founders created this oasis of calm/great forum where we can find/learn from/support each other. Thanx. @Son Na Eun @notthatmarko @Behemoth n all the other staff n users who make ks so awesome. Think I'm gonna lurk n try to disentangle myself from any stuff abt this topic, I'm in a funk for the last two days n feeling sad a lot. If they went into specifics of helping certain artists then i'd say that would be crossing a line but there could be an explanation given that only goes over the basics which wouldn't cross any lines

But here we come bk to SM being SM, I don't expect them to, I don't even blame them as making such a statement 1) too late by 2 yrs, (2) wouldn't cut them any slack if they had made such a statement n updates even 1 year ago, unless they/their actions had prevented this tragedy. I understand their silence even if I think it's better if they addressed this issue. It's lose-lose for them but it's their past actions/treatment of their artists before Dec2017 that hasn't gained them any trust from fans.
