Yeah, don't do that. I don't know how hot they get instantly, but even if you kept it in there for 20 seconds, I think it will begin to melt.

In other words, stop being lazy and use an actual plate or dish that is microwave safe. Don't foolishly injure yourself and/or burn your house down using those containers from restaurants.

I'll also admit I've done it a few times, too, when I felt lazy or when I thought a "thick and durable" container could handle the intense heat.
Luckily, I was able to quickly stop the microwave half-way after realizing the containers wouldn't.
