Specifically famous people. This can be related to any part of the burial.

The location of Marquis de Lafayette’s burial place isn’t that unusual. He was buried in France, specifically Paris, not surprising for a Frenchman. However, the soil he is buried under does not come from France at all. Instead, it comes from the soil of Bunker Hill, the (almost) site of one of the earliest big battles of the US Independence War. This burial choice is to commemorate the fact that Lafayette played a major major role in the US Independence War.

Marie Currie was buried twice, first in an area of France outside of Paris, then in Paris. Both times she was buried on a casket containing a layer of lead. This is because her remains were radioactive due to her research, and will remain so for a long time, and as such the lead protects people visiting her grave from radiation. But she isn’t the only person buried in caskets of lead, it’s a practice found for both radioactivity reasons and for other reasons, such as preservation. One famous example is the British nobility and royal family, who have been buried in lead for centuries for preservation.
