Not because bad audio or whatever, but you just listen to it and go ”yeah, that happened in this historical era”. Like this song, it sounds just like imperialism in song form. It’s no wonder why it’s so often used ironically with lyrics like this (the modern lyrics are a bit different, but still similar and they still give the same vibe).
