Some of the older Americans on here might know about this but in 2018, someone tried to send a test alert (I believe) to people in Hawaii (I don’t recall whether it was over radio, phones, or other media). But the person sending the alert pressed the wrong button and sent an alert to Hawaii that there was a ballistic missile threat. Ofc people panicked (apparently around that time there was a lot of news about North Koreas missile program so the timing would definitely be worse if so). It kind of sucks for the person who pressed it because it’s not a clearly malicious act that they purposely did, pressing the wrong button happens. But when you mess up and send something like that it’s hard to say “it’s okay, we all make mistakes” when so many people thought their lives were in imminent danger
Hopefully it doesn’t happen again
