After a bunch of book duds in a row, I decided to go to a familiar author (Rick Riordan) and read his Magnus Chase series. I had read the physical version when it first came out, and remember thinking it was entertaining enough, but not quite to Percy Jackson's height.
On audiobook, though? The narrator NAILS Magnus's voice. He captures Magnus's kind of perpetually optimistic, perpetually snarky tone perfectly, to the point that it's laugh out loud funny. I think a really good narration can sometimes positively skew my opinion up from the physical read, lol. Graphic Audio reads are a lot like this too.
(And sometimes, audiobooks kind of suck. Garth Nix's Angel Mage, the narrator would read one character's voice super quiet, so I had to keep turning the volume up and down.)
