That wouldn’t surprise me, it seemed like people had good reason to believe that they wouldn’t resign. I did wonder if that widespread belief caused Cube to give them better contracts than expected

As expected, tbh. Cube has a great incentive to keep their currently most successful set of artists happy, and the girls have incentive to remain with a company who they know first-hand gives them a lot of what they want (e.g. the big dramatic stages for Super Lady... those are Cube's dancers and resources). Leaving has its own risks too: another company could promise that and then do jack all, or they could try taking it on themselves and it not work out.

I've seen a lot of people elsewhere be like "Cube completely caved, the girls hold all the cards!" but we've seen artists -- even artists who were EXTREMELY popular -- leave their company and not be able to retain even 10% of their previous success. There's a lot of benefit to being with a company with connections, industry know-how, and enough employees to be able to have all the skills needed to make the idols shine at their best.

So I personally think this was something to both sides' benefits.

I bet CUBE gave away to kitchen sink and the CEO's golden toilet to keep them. The company was doomed with out them. Lightsum isn't going to keep the lights on despite what their name says.

I was more on the side that they would be leaving, but only because of some of the thigns Soyeon said recently and the members often being shady towards cube

In a way thats also what makes those contract situations in kpop exciting as you can never truely know what is going to happen, only once the new contract is signed (or not), you can get an idea of the relationship company and idol had.

why would that even be a question, they were all on their rookie contracts before, so the new contracts are certainly a lot better. Especially as Soyeon is a star producer / song writer now and many of the other member also often take part in song writing.

I would not even be surprised if it will be revealed that Soyeon owns shares of CUBE now tbh

I was honestly hopping they would all leave and Soyeon would start her own company for them. But I think this is a logical step and possibility. I could see Soyeon being CEO of Cube and making it a better company. I could also see her doing big things like JYP did.
