why would that even be a question, they were all on their rookie contracts before, so the new contracts are certainly a lot better. Especially as Soyeon is a star producer / song writer now and many of the other member also often take part in song writing.

I would not even be surprised if it will be revealed that Soyeon owns shares of CUBE now tbh

I was thinking that maybe Cube gave them the terms of the new contract, then after Soyeons thing gave them more on top of it to try to give them more incentive to them at Cube. It would of course be better than the rookie one regardless, but I wasn’t thinking about that one

ofc the new contracts would be better than the rookie ones, that would be a given, but as @Ahsoka said i was hoping that they'd have gotten terms that were much better than what was already offered to them for their second contract - especially after soyeon's "the contract ends in november" rap. though i think that's the case, i-dle are too famous for it to not be so.

and also, my (possibly controversial?) take is i'd rather have idol groups leave their companies (and maybe even break up) if it means they get to exercise creative liberty with their careers, than stay together as a group with contracts that are only slightly better than their rookie ones. i know my first response to the fromis news was one of shock and a bit of sadness, but as i think more about it... they're free from fuck-ass (pardon my french) pledis. they can sign with better companies and do the stuff they truly want to do, even if it means giving up the group and idol life.

point is, the only reason i-dle have renewed their contracts (with what we'd all agree would be much much better terms) because i-dle are famous as a group, despite cube's questionable decision-making. that's something most other cube groups don't get to experience despite the talent being there.

I can see what you mean, but that only works out in some cases. I think reality for many is that their solo plans do not work out the way they'd hope and by not being in their group anymore, they give up a lot.

that's a good point you raise - and a point i often forget ngl. in my first response, i had typed out (but later deleted) a whole paragraph about a group i follow casually that has been doing mostly okay, and have a lot more freedom, after most of the group leaving the company. these cases, however, are as you've pointed out, are still uncommon.
even famous idols like kang daniel (slightly different case for him ofc, staying with his group was never an option) have faced difficulties with their companies, he in particular has been able to come back stronger through each of them due to his fame. who's to say less-known idols won't have it worse?
ultimately all we'd wish for is our faves just getting to do what they want to do. so that way - yes, i'm extremely glad (g)i-dle have renewed.
in the particular case of fromis all i hope for is that they get to continue doing what they want to do with supportive companies. pledis never really was that for them, so hopefully whoever they sign with truly supports them in what they want to do.

yep, there is always a chance the new company turns out to be a lot worse and run by shady people, especially with those small unknown ones

Regarding fromis, we have to see.. I think Pledis / HYBE also have to play along to let them keep their name & songs (if the girls intend on staying together). Ofc they could also start fresh witha new name and new songs.. but that seems harsh, just when they had a litte break with supersonic
