Suddenly thinking about movies and books with this kind of plot (1 Viewer)

A guy is a vampire hunter and is one of the best vampire hunters in town.
But then one day he meets this beautiful woman, who he falls in love with.
Then he finds out that she is actually a vampire, and it breaks his heart.
And because of the fact that he has fallen for her, he refuses to kill her.

And then I guess he and she start dating, and he hides the fact that he actually is a vampire hunter.
And also finds out that her father had been killed by a vampire hunter and he realizes that he was the one who did it and regrets that.

Because of her, he stops hunting vampires.

If I remember correctly this is sort of the plot to Vampire Hunter D. It's been like 30 years since I've seen it so I might be wrong.

Man, I swear I've read a book with that plot but it's been so long... the closest one that looks right is Dead Until Dark, but I'm not sure that's the book I'm thinking of either.
