There's this miniseries on Netflix called "When They See Us" which is about the "Central Park Five" and their case.

The Good Place on netflix. It's quite fun, has lot of dark humor and some philosophy too.

Watch 'A Taxi Driver' and 'Swing Kids'

They're both very good movies.

If you don't want k-movies either, I would recommend 'The Intouchables'. It's a french film but I used subtitles and I loved it!

Insatiable (I actually wanted to hate on it, because it seemed like just another dramatic and stupid show, but then I watched it on a whim and actually really enjoyed it)

I have a habit of watching really teen-flick type movies and shows that turn out to be really corny, or cry-fests, or cliche....but they're just so darn enjoyable and great for background noise while I do other things
