I say idk bc I heard about it in a Tumblr post. He apparently only got seven years jailtime. ONLY. SEVEN. YEARS!!! which shouldn't really surprise me considering the justice system being whack, but omg that's wayyyyyyyyyy too short! he should've gotten at least 25 to life!

I agree, most people in this category seem to get sentences that feel too low

And here, I'm used to such short sentences for these crimes -- particularly for wealthy celebrities -- that my initial reaction was that seven years shows how seriously the judge took the offense.

Google tells me the prosecution requested 7 years, so I'm glad the judge didn't decide to revise that downward.

the prosecution seeks 7 year term but the sentencing is set for 10 July

the 7 year term is apparently because it's the max allowed under SK law

furthermore given he plead guilty plus I'm assuming this is his first time offence he might get further leniency

I personally feel like rape should be a life sentence so every sentence is too light, but coming from a country where repeat offenders only get 4 years,I think it's the best they could ask, especially since he submitted a guilty plea.
It's not a guarantee he'll get the maximum but it'll probs still be better than here.

He may have seven very unpleasant years if other inmates know he's a sex offender. Generally, rapists are at the bottom of the prison hierarchy.

he wasnt sentenced yet. the prosecution requested a 7 year prison sentence and a 10-year employment restriction.
I think the final ruling will be in july.
his lawer wants a lower sentence.
