i have seen a lot of dollars being donated to ks
so i guess the staff not paying for it all by themselves luckily
but the expenses.... is reason why i say go free forum software
funny enough people always think thats not good enough
but there are free forum websites with even more people online compared to some kpop forums combined
so
though gotta admit xenforo and ipb look sleek

just use free forum websites
good one is jcink, its based on ipb
but hard to find decent free theme for lol
most free jcink skins are totally not like this one

or go mybb

you can have all the fkin staff members you want and you don't even have to pay a fak on websites like jcink or proboards

I guess you haven't. Discourse is open source free forum software. The company only offers hosting services, and it's quite pricey as you already know; but you can host it anywhere you can make it work. I'm thinking on hosting it on a free hosting service to begin with; but to migrate it to a better place as it grows.
