"I love you too, Xin Yue."

Nearly seven months have passed since the New Year's Eve rooftop confession. Xin Yue kept herself busy with the ongoing move. Shortly after returning from her vacation, the woman received news that she'll begin her new job in August of this year, which was later than expected. With an exact date, the woman knew how to move forward with the move.

Xin Yue kept in contact with her family and her real estate agent throughout the moving process. Her parents and siblings consulted the Yuque resident regarding the apartments she's interested in. On her end, Xin Yue communicated with her real estate agent and participated in the virtual tours to see the apartments. It took about two months to secure a perfect and affordable apartment in Luofu that she could move into a month before her work date.

Around that time, Xin Yue contacted her landlord regarding breaking her lease early. The woman got lucky when they suggested re-renting the apartment to a new tenant. While there was a time limit to pack her stuff, Xin Yue wasn't concerned about how she'd do that. Lixin, her older brother, worked for a storage company in Luofu, which has a branch located in Yuque. He recommended she send those belongings directly to the storage unit company.

The woman sent most of her belongings to the storage company within the last month and a half. She provided a date to her brother's friend, who worked in the storage facility's Yuque branch when they could move her belongings to the Lufou branch's storage facility. It hasn't been long since the storage unit got transferred to Luofu's storage facility.

Since the last time Xin Yue contacted her brother, she learned they had begun moving her stuff into the new apartment. Before that, Xin Yue sent an email, with the help of her agent, to authorize her mother to pick up the key. Now all of that is over, the real fun has begun.

Ming Zhu, her co-worker and best friend, wanted to celebrate those final days together. So she booked a staycation at a nice hotel in the city for an entire week. It's the perfect way to spend her last days in Yuque and relax before the long drive to Luofu.

"I'm going to miss you when you leave, Xin Yue," said Ming Zhu.

Sitting by her best friend, Xin Yue replied, "Same here, but you can always video chat with me whenever I'm not busy."

"Now I have to deal with a long-distance friendship too," replied the brunette, "speaking of long-distance relationships, how are things between you and Jing Yuan?"

Ah, Jing Yuan. The dark blue-haired woman knew she'd to bring up Jing Yuan at some point. During NYE, Xin Yue promised to keep in contact with him after she said that she loved him. Despite that, the woman needed time to heal from the breakup. Yes, she struggled with the recovery occasionally, but Xin Yue found a way to keep going.

Around five months post-breakup, she and Jing Yuan had one of their late-night video chats over the phone. At some point in the conversation, Jing Yuan was the first to bring up the idea of being together as a couple. Compared to how she was back in December, Xin Yue admitted that she's in a better place. She agreed with the idea that they should test the water.

"We've been doing well, and I can't believe our long-distance relationship won't be long-distance soon," replied Xin Yue.

Ming Zhu said, "I'm glad that you two will be able to see each other once you finally move back home."

"You will get your opportunity to see me and Xiyang once your transfer request to the Luofu branch goes through," her friend responded.

Ming Zhu nodded and hoped that it would go through. This year has been rough for her with the ongoing family drama. Luckily, Xin Yue, Xiyang, and a few of their co-workers, friends, and one of her aunts had her back. She cut most of her toxic family and moved forward with her life. Ming Zhu loved her job and wanted to continue working there, but not in the current branch.

Ming Zhu wondered, "Can I tell you something, Xin Yue?"

"What did you do now, Ming Zhu?" Xin Yue asked back.

The brunette shut her eyes and chuckled to herself. Xin Yue knew something was up. While nothing horrible happened, Ming Zhu needed to tell her best friend why they were having a staycation. She explained to Xin Yue that it was her way to spend their last days in Yuque together. Ming Zhu never elaborated on any of the other details.

"I wasn't the only person involved in planning this staycation," confessed Ming Zhu.

Xin Yue asked, "Who helped you with the planning?"

"Xiyang and Jing Yuan also helped out with the planning. Plus, they wanted to come to Yuque and spend some time with us," her best friend responded.

Jing Yuan’s coming to Yuque? He never talked about traveling during their video chats. But Xin Yue wasn't surprised. Her boyfriend has been and always will be a sneaky person. A cunning guy that she fell in love with. This news made her day.

"When they are coming?" asked Xin Yue.

Ming Zhu replied, "Tomorrow afternoon, according to Xiyang."

That explains why Ming Zhu told her about the three of them making these plans. They're coming to the city tomorrow to spend quality time with them. Xin Yue felt impatient, yet she knew it was worth it. Speaking of Jing Yuan, it's almost time for their nighttime video chats.

Xin Yue moved her hands in a shooing motion, signaling her friend to leave.

Ming Zhu said, "I'll see you tomorrow, Xin Yue."

The brunette walked out, leaving Xin Yue all alone. The dark blue-haired woman approached the mirror and checked her appearance. Donning a light pink tank top and comfy light green pajama pants, she's almost ready to hit the hay. Xin Yue walked toward the desk, the spot where her laptop was.

She sat on the comfortable desk chair and opened her laptop. The woman clicked on a random button, and a purple-colored screen appeared, requesting a password. Xin Yue typed her password, which revealed a pastel green and blue background filled with different icons.

Browsing through her laptop, the woman clicked on the video chat icon. Looking through the contacts who had chatted with her, Xin Yue found his name. She selected and pressed on his name with the touchpad. All she needed to do was wait for him to answer.

Compared to the other times they chatted, Xin Yue felt nervous this time. She couldn't believe Jing Yuan was arriving in Yuque tomorrow. Speaking of Jing Yuan, he was on the other side of the screen right now, staring straight at her.

Jing Yuan said, "I didn't think you were going to call me, Yue."

"You know well that I try my best with that, Yuan," replied Xin Yue, "plus, we do need to talk about something."

Since the beginning of their long-distance relationship, they have been using shortened versions of each other's names when they talk to each other. It's cute and simple.

He asked, "Did something happen?"

"Maybe," she responded.

For the next minute, neither of them spoke a single word. There's an awkward silence between them, and they continue to stare at each other. It's almost like the couple was having a staring competition amongst themselves. That's how it felt until the dark blue-haired woman blinked her eyes, receiving a chuckle from the other.

"You blinked, Yue," said Jing Yuan, breaking the awkward silence.

Xin Yue replied, "Shit."

"So are you going to tell me?" he wondered.

She said, "I found out from Ming Zhu that you and Xiyang are flying to Yuque. I can't wait to see you tomorrow."

On the other line, Jing Yuan closed his eyes. Xin Yue noticed the slight smile on that calm expression of his.

He chuckled and replied, "I had a feeling that Ming Zhu told you about it. It was supposed to be a surprise, but the cat's out of the bag now."

"I knew this staycation wasn't just for the two of us," said Xin Yue, "so I can't blame you."

Jing Yuan responded, "That's good to know, and I can't wait to see you tomorrow, My Moonlight."

My Moonlight. Xin Yue's eyes turned wide once she heard the last two words. That's the first time he called her something that wasn't Yue. The woman placed her hands on her face, covering any signs of embarrassment. Jing Yuan has never seen her like this before.

"Are you okay?" he asked.

Xin Yue nodded yes while her hands still covered her face. Jing Yuan chuckled, which prompted the woman to remove her hands from her face.

She pouted, "That's not funny, but the pet name is pretty cute, I admit."

"I'm glad that you like it, My Moonlight," responded Jing Yuan.

Xin Yue commented, "Now you're overdoing it."

For the next hour or so, the two of them continued talking to one another until midnight. Both of them logged out from the video chat. Turning off and closing the laptop, Xin Yue sighed. It's time for bed because tomorrow's a long day.

Today's the day. Xin Yue and Ming Zhu are picking up Jing Yuan and Xiyang from the airport. For both women, it's the first time in eight months since they have seen their boyfriends in the flesh. For Xin Yue, it's a brand-new experience since she never had a long-distance relationship with anyone until now. Now she understood how her best friend felt whenever she had those video chats with Xiyang.

In her hotel room, Xin Yue adjusted the hair bun on the left side. The woman went for the half up-half down space buns look. Her cute-looking hairstyle goes well with the pastel orange crop tank top and light wash bootcut jeans she donned. The woman walked past the mirror and toward the closet.

Xin Yue opened it, and the first thing she pulled out was a pastel mint green lightweight cardigan. The woman tossed it on her body and closed it. For the second time, Xin Yue went to the mirror and saw her complete appearance. She wanted a simple and refreshing look, and it worked. Not long after the outfit check, Xin Yue heard a knocking sound.

"Xin Yue, are you ready to leave?" asked Ming Zhu.

The woman grabbed her cell phone and purse from the night table. Xin Yue checked her bag for her belongings, including her car keys, hotel key card, wallet, and wireless earbuds. Everything was there, and the woman placed her phone inside it. Closing the purse's zipper, Xin Yue walked and noticed the brunette standing in the hallway.

Xin Yue said, "Let's go."

"We'll be using our cars to drive to and from the airport, if that's fine with you," her best friend replied.

She responded, "I don't mind it, honestly."

The women took the nearest elevator to the hotel's ground floor. After arriving at the lobby, Xin Yue followed her best friend to a door that led to the garage. That didn't take long since the cars were next to each other. Ming Zhu got into her SUV first, followed by Xin Yue, who got into her minivan. The brunette began driving her vehicle out of the garage. Xin Yue followed her best friend on the road.

Throughout the ride to the airport, both women followed one another for the next 45 minutes. Getting to the Yuque International Airport wasn't that hard, but today's traffic slowed the women down. That, plus 20 additional minutes searching for parking spots near the terminal. Xin Yue noticed her best friend's attitude change. All of that irritated Ming Zhu in an hour and five minutes.

Xin Yue said, "I hope Xiyang can find a way to soothe his annoyed girlfriend."

Xin Yue followed her best friend from the parking lot to the terminal where they were supposed to meet the guys. Both women walked inside the terminal. It was pretty packed, but it wasn't hard to get lost. They aren't sure how long it would take Xiyang and Jing Yuan to find them at the airport. Xin Yue took out her cell phone from her purse and saw the text message notification from Jing Yuan.

It was from 15 minutes ago. That's when Ming Zhu and she drove around the parking lot looking for an empty parking space. Xin Yue opened the notification. Her boyfriend wrote:

Xiyang and I just landed. We're about to pick up our luggage at baggage claim.

"Is it from Jing Yuan?" asked Ming Zhu.

Xin Yue replied, "Yeah. He texted me that he and Xiyang landed, and they were going to get their luggage at baggage claim."

"Send him a text letting them know that we're waiting at the entrance of the airport," the brunette responded.

Xin Yue nodded, and she typed away on her phone. She wrote to him:

Ming Zhu and I just arrived at the terminal. The two of us are waiting by the entrance.

The woman clicked the send button before placing it back into her purse. Xin Yue looked over at the cute bubble tea stand that was nearby. Ming Zhu also noticed and glanced over at her best friend.

"Let's get bubble tea for us and them while we wait," said Ming Zhu.

Xin Yue responded, "I agree."

Both women approached the bubble tea shop. Ming Zhu glanced over at the menu to see what types they had. The cashier noticed the new customers immediately.

"Hello. What would you like?" wondered the cashier.

Ming Zhu stated, "I will have two large matcha milk teas. Both of them with boba at a 50% sweetness level and also ice."

"I will have a large brown sugar milk tea with boba at a 100% sweetness level and also a large lavender milk tea with boba, at a 75% sweetness level. I would like ice for both drinks," said Xin Yue.

Because it was from an airport, the bubble tea prices were pricey. Both women split the costs between them and paid for the drinks. While they waited for the drinks, Xin Yue heard a familiar ringing sound. She dug into the back pockets of her jeans and pulled out her phone. It was Jing Yuan again. She accepted the call and placed it near her ear.

Xin Yue said, "Hey, Yuan."

"I didn't know you were getting bubble tea, Yue," replied Jing Yuan.

They saw them going to the bubble tea stand. Hanging up the call, Xin Yue placed her phone inside her purse. She looked around the area and wondered where they were at. Xin Yue took a few steps. What was the first thing she did? Bump into someone without looking at the person in front of her. She moved back and landed right on the airport floor.

"Are you okay?" a familiar voice asked.

Xin Yue looked up and saw the person who asked her. A tall, handsome man with long white hair that's always tied with a red ribbon. It's him, alright. Her eyes shifted toward the bouquet her boyfriend held, which had pink and yellow lilies, her favorite. Remembering that she was on the floor, Xin Yue picked up her purse and got up as if nothing happened.

She smiled and said, "Yeah, and I had no idea you guys were watching us buy bubble tea."

"We wanted to surprise you two with these flowers we bought," Jing Yuan replied, "also, did you get my favorite while ordering?"

Xin Yue responded, "You did surprise me when you called and yes, I got your favorite."

Jing Yuan gave his girlfriend the flower bouquet he bought at the airport florist shop. He pulled her closer and gently placed his lips on her right cheek. Jing Yuan gave a quick kiss, which prompted Xin Yue to kiss him on the cheek. They returned to the bubble tea stand, where Ming Zhu was chatting with Xiyang, who also held a flower bouquet.

Her best friend was the first to notice it. The woman grinned, which caught the blonde-haired man's attention. Xiyang turned over to see Jing Yuan and Xin Yue together.

"It's been a while, Xin Yue," said Xiyang.

Xin Yue replied, "Yes and I can't believe you two took the time to fly to Yuque to see us."

"You can thank your boyfriend for coming up with the idea. He knew I wanted to see Ming Zhu again," he responded.

She looked at Jing Yuan and commented, "Of course, you planned this."

"I wanted to make your last week in Yuque a special one, Yue," stated Jing Yuan.

The cashier asked, "Do you want a bag for your drinks?"

"Put them in two separate bags. The two matcha milk teas in one bag and the two milk teas in the other bag," replied Ming Zhu.

The cashier retrieved two bags from the back counter and organized the drinks and straws. Ming Zhu and Xiyang's drinks were placed in the first bag, while Xin Yue and Jing Yuan's drinks were inside the other bag. Jing Yuan grabbed their bag while Xiyang did the same with the other one.

Both couples left the terminal and walked to where the women parked their vehicles. When they arrived at the spot, the guys noticed two different-looking cars next to each other. One was a black-colored SUV, and the other was a dark blue-colored minivan.

"We decided to drive our cars to the airport," said Xin Yue.

Jing Yuan asked, "Which one is yours, Xin Yue?"

"The minivan," she replied while looking for her car keys, "it's for space reasons. I still have stuff I have to bring to my new apartment by car."

The woman pressed a button that unlocked the trunk of the van. Jing Yuan placed his suitcase inside the back of the vehicle. He closed the trunk and headed towards the passenger seat. Xin Yue unlocked the driver's seat door and entered the van. She closed the door and pressed a button that prompted a clicking sound.

Jing Yuan opened the door and entered the vehicle. He closed the door and removed the drinks from the bag. He placed each drink on the console.

He asked, "Do you want me to hold your flowers?"

"I have no choice because I got to drive. Plus, put on your seatbelt," the woman replied.

Jing Yuan smiled while Xin Yue gave him the bouquet one more time. Both adults buckled up. Xin Yue placed her key inside the slot and turned on the ignition. The woman lowered the windows and saw her best friend and boyfriend in the other car. Ming Zhu noticed her immediately and lowered her vehicle window.

Xin Yue said, "I'll lead the drive to the hotel."

"That's fine," responded Ming Zhu.

They adjusted their windows to the halfway point. Xin Yue placed her hands on the wheel. Carefully checking her surroundings, the woman drove slowly from the parking spot. Ming Zhu, who was with Xiyang in her SUV, followed her best friend out of the parking lot. Xin Yue focused her eyes on the road and followed all the signs.

Jing Yuan asked, "What are our plans once we get to the hotel?"

"We're hanging out in Ming Zhu and Xiyang's hotel room for the rest of the afternoon and then dinner at our favorite hotpot place," responded Xin Yue.

He replied, "That sounds like a plan, Yue."

She smiled and concentrated on the road ahead. The ride back to the hotel was smooth. It took the women half an hour to arrive at their destination. Xin Yue parked her van in the spacious-looking parking space in front of her. Right next to them was the vehicle Ming Zhu and Xiyang were in. The woman unbuckled her seatbelt and removed her car key from the ignition switch.

The woman picked up her almost-full drink from the cup holder. The two adults then got out of the car after unlocking it. Xin Yue pressed a button, which made a clicking sound. She then pressed another button to unlock the trunk, indicating to Jing Yuan to retrieve his luggage. It didn't take long for him or Xiyang to get their suitcases.

Upon arriving at the hotel, Xiyang and Jing Yuan proceeded to the front desk for their check-in. Ming Zhu called the hotel two days before the trip and informed them about the two of their guests who were coming later. The hotel staff reassured her that the guests could check in on the same day, provided the person who made the reservation had already checked in.

Things went smoothly for the guys as they got their hotel key cards. From the front desk, they headed to the elevator. Xin Yue pressed the up button. The doors opened, and the couples walked in. Ming Zhu pressed number 15 on the elevator. It took a bit for them to arrive on the fifth floor.

Their rooms were by the elevators. Jing Yuan used his new key card to unlock the door of their room. They heard a soft beeping sound, which made Jing Yuan open the door. He gave a gentle smile while he held the door.

"Ladies first," said Jing Yuan.

Xin Yue responded, "You're such a gentleman, Jing Yuan."

She walked inside the hotel first, with Jing Yuan following her from behind. The room they booked was pretty. Not only that, but their room had a spectacular view of Yuque. Jing Yuan noticed the king-sized bed.

"Ming Zhu sure knows how to go all out with the room choices," he said.

Xin Yue commented, "She wants to make sure that my last days in Yuque are unforgettable."

Jing Yuan placed his luggage in a safe place. Xin Yue noticed the empty vase that was on the table. She set the bouquet on the bed. The woman placed her purse on the table and picked up the empty vase.

"Let me put the lilies in water before we head out to Ming Zhu and Xiyang's hotel room," she said.

Jing Yuan responded, "Sure thing."

Xin Yue walked to the bathroom and placed the vase on the side. The woman turned on the cold water and let it run for a bit. She moved and filled the vase that was 2/3 full. Xin Yue carried the vase back to the hotel room. The woman placed the vase on the table and grabbed the flowers from the bed.

Jing Yuan watched his girlfriend remove the plastic covering from the flowers. Attached to the plastic covering was a small envelope of plant food. Xin Yue opened the tiny thing and dumped the plant food into the vase.

"And for the final touches," said the woman while she placed the lilies in the vase, "it's perfect."

Jing Yuan kissed her cheek and said, "Let's get going, Yue."

Xin Yue grabbed her purse from the table before heading next door to their friends' hotel room. In the other room, Ming Zhu and Xiyang lounged on the bed, watching TV. They wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and catching up. Both of them heard a knocking sound from the bed.

Xiyang hopped off the bed and said, "I'll get it."

The blonde-haired man hopped off the bed and walked to the door. He opened it, and it was Jing Yuan and Xin Yue. Just like the other hotel room, it's fancy and comfy.

"You did a great job with the room choices, Ming Zhu," commented Xin Yue, "yet I didn't expect you would go all out."

Ming Zhu replied, "As I said, I wanted to make your final days in Yuque memorable."

"That's why you're such a great friend," she responded.

Xiyang looked at Jing Yuan and asked, "So, are you going to tell the friend group about you and Xin Yue?"

"I was thinking about doing it during our video group chat before we head out to dinner if you're okay with it, Yue," replied Jing Yuan.

Xin Yue stared at her boyfriend and commented, "I don't mind, but I think we should surprise them first at least."

After spending the rest of the afternoon ordering room service for lunch and watching a movie in their friends' hotel room, Jing Yuan and Xin Yue returned to their hotel room. While she was getting ready in the bathroom, Jing Yuan was on his laptop, video-chatting with the university friend group from the empty desk.

"I'm surprised that you decided to use some of your vacation days and head for Yuque for the entire week, Jing Yuan," commented Blade.

Jing Yuan responded, "My boss insisted on me taking at least a week-long paid vacation, so I had no choice but to accept it."

Shortly after that, Xiyang joined alongside Ming Zhu. The friend group wasn't surprised that these two lovebirds decided to see each other on this chat.

"Ming Zhu, do you know if Xin Yue is going to join the video chat?" asked Fu Xuan.

Ming Zhu replied, "She told me that she'll be joining the video chat soon."

Xin Yue, who was in the bathroom, heard her best friend's words from where she stood. The woman donned an orange long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder floral print romper with a long overlay skirt and black espadrille wedges. Her hair was in loose waves with a matching orange headband. The accessories and makeup were on point, which made Xin Yue smile.

From the video chat, everyone heard the sound of a door opening from Jing Yuan's hotel room. Xin Yue carefully walked toward the empty chair. It was the only way to get their friends' attention without being able to see them.

"Is someone else in your hotel room, Jing Yuan?" asked Jingliu.

The video chat saw a woman approaching with a chair, moving it to where Jing Yuan sat. She held onto the chair with her dainty-looking hands. They couldn't see the mysterious woman's face at all.

Jing Yuan replied, "Yes, there's someone else in the room."

Nearby, Xin Yue remained silent as Jing Yuan continued with the conversation. She couldn't believe it at all. At the same time, she agreed that it was a fun way to introduce themselves as a couple. How they react to the news is up to them.

"Tonight, I want to introduce everyone to my girlfriend. Sit right next to me," he said, looking over at the woman.

Xin Yue took a quick breath and headed towards the seat. It was time. They all noticed the woman's dark blue hair. Jing Yuan witnessed everyone's eyes turning wide. They realized what was happening right now. Xin Yue turned her face over and saw everyone else in the video chat. She softly smiled and waved.

Xin Yue playfully responded, "Thank you, Yuan. It's nice seeing everyone here."

"You weren't kidding when you told us that you were seeing someone through video chat, Jing Yuan," said Luocha.

Jing Yuan replied, "We wanted to wait for the right moment to tell the friend group about the relationship."

"Jing Yuan and I didn't want to blindside you guys with the relationship after I return to Luofu," explained Xin Yue.

Baiheng commented, "You two deserve some happiness in your lives."

"Are things going to change within the friend group?" asked Fu Xuan.

Jing Yuan and Xin Yue exchanged a look, each knowing what needed to be said. The situation was complicated. Two people from the same friend group were now in a relationship. Someone had to bring it up at some point in the conversation. Xin Yue didn't want anything or anyone to change because she and Jing Yuan were dating.

Jing Yuan said, "Although this new relationship means a lot to us, I want to reassure everyone that nothing will change within our friend group because of it."

"The friend group means a lot to us. We understand that it's a risk, especially with the constant what-ifs of the relationship," Xin Yue responded, "we don't want anyone from the group to feel awkward speaking up about the current dynamic."

Dan Feng stated, "I know this news was a shocker, but if you are happy together, go for it."

Dan Feng was right. Both were excited to be together as a couple, and it showed. The rest of the video chat went well. Both couples excused themselves since it was almost time to leave for their double date. Logging off from the video chat, Jing Yuan and Xin Yue sat on the bed. Both of them waited for their friends to text back.

She spoke, "Thank you for waiting for me, My Lion."

"My Lion? Where did that come from?" teasingly asked Jing Yuan.

Xin Yue replied, "Since you called me My Moonlight last night, I get the right to give you a pet name. You remind me of a lion so I called you My Lion."

"Fair enough, and by the way, you're welcome, My Moonlight," he chuckled and responded.

Jing Yuan stood up. He extended his hand to Xin Yue, inviting her to stand up. She grabbed his hand and took the time to get up. She began wobbling while she stood on her two feet. But Jing Yuan wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her close. Xin Yue wrapped her arms around his neck without hesitation.

The dark blue-haired woman placed her forehead on top of his. She could hear the rapid pace of their hearts beating. Xin Yue placed her lips on top of his and initiated the kiss. Jing Yuan felt her soft lips touch against his lips and responded by kissing her back. The kiss was light and airy, yet he felt a warm and secure sensation.

While the couple got lost in their kiss, a phone rang, interrupting them. Jing Yuan pulled away with a smile, gazing directly at Xin Yue.

"Well, it's time to go," said Jing Yuan.

Xin Yue replied, "We shouldn't keep them waiting."
