This is my entry for that fanfic contest!

Juliet walked into the coffee shop to get herself a caffeine fix. It was her go-to for her morning coffee, since she didn’t own a coffee maker.
The shop is a mom-and-pop place called The Early Bird. It’s furnished with a coffee bar with stools lining the side opposite where they make the coffee, a few booths, a few tables, and the storefront is occupied by large windows.
“What can I get for you?”
This Australian voice came as a shock to Juliet. Every time she’d come in here, she got the same barista without fail… but not today. This time, at the counter was a guy with longish blond hair and a goatee around his plump lips. His green eyes sparkled as he smiled at her.
“Oh, hi,” she said in her surprised state. “Where’s Chad?”
“Yeah, he got booted,” the new guy said. “I’m his replacement, Michael Clifford.”
“I’m Juliet; nice to meet you. So, I’ll have your caramel macchiato, frozen, with oat milk and a shot of espresso.”
“And the name is Juliet, right?”
“Yep,” Juliet said, taking her usual spot at the bar. “Oh, and I’d also like one of those apple Danishes.”
“Sure thing.”
Juliet watched closely as Michael made the coffee drink. Meanwhile, his coworker reached into the display case and pulled out an apple Danish for his customer.
The coworker was somebody who was familiar with Juliet. His name was Awsten Knight, and he always came to work with dyed hair. In fact, Juliet never knew what his natural hair color was because it was always pink, mint green, or some other wacky color.
“Thanks, Awsten,” Juliet said as he handed her the pastry. She took a bite out of it and moaned with satisfaction. “Your pastries never disappoint.”
“So, here’s your coffee,” Michael said, bringing out her drink. “A caramel macchiato with oat milk and a shot of espresso. That will be $2.14 for everything.”
“Uh-oh,” Awsten said. “I think Michael’s flirting with you, babe.”
Juliet laughed and paid up. “Yeah, right,” she said. “I never get attention from guys.”
“Well, what if I said this?” Michael asked. “Why don’t you and I go out sometime?”
Juliet dropped her jaw. “Wait, is this even real?”
Awsten and Michael laughed together. “Only if you want it to be,” Awsten said. “But he really did just ask you out.”
Another customer came in, and Awsten was the one to help him. This left Michael and Juliet alone together. He leaned forward and rested his elbows on the counter.
“So, what are you thinking? I could pick you up tonight at six, and we could go out for pizza… and I’m paying.”
“You probably don’t even think I’m pretty,” Juliet said with a dismissive wave.
“See, that’s where you’re wrong. You’re beautiful, and this is coming from a complete stranger to you. For example, I love your smile and your eyes.”
“Nah, you’re just saying that to get in my jeans.”
Suddenly, Michael left his station and came around to Juliet’s side of the bar. Then, he slowly leaned in, closed his eyes, and planted a kiss on her lips.
“Now, will you go out with me?” Michael repeated after he pulled away.
At this point, Juliet was sold to the idea of dating Michael. Not only was he hot, but he was a good dang kisser as well.
“I’d love to,” she said with a smile.
