My little brother is 8 years old, so very young. When my brother was 5, his biological dad and step mom gave him up because he had autism. My brother was ripped from his other siblings on his fathers side and was meant to never see them again. These people lived in a city over from us, and nobody has run into them since they gave up my brother.
Today I went with my mom and brother to his elementary school carnival. We saw them. His biological dad. My brothers old siblings, they had enrolled at my brothers schoolWe all ignored eachother and my brother and the siblings didn’t recognize each other.
I just can’t stop feeling uneasy. My brother, who I love the most in this world, was given up for a reason that isn’t even his fault and now we are being forced to be confronted with the past and pain all over again.
What if my brother recognizes them. It’s bound to happen. How are we supposed to explain to a little boy with autism nonetheless, that his own father didn’t even want him. I hate this world. I hate how someone could give up their own kid.

I don’t understand how someone could be so awful.

You can ignore this.

Ohhhh... that must've been really unpleasant... but your family sound like angels to have given him the love and care that his biological folks never gave him. You're his family, not them

Yes, that is true.

It just leaves a rotten taste in my mouth at the fact that his bio gave him up because of his autism but yet he still has his other 3 kids because they are “normal” agh

Your little brother is really lucky to have a family like yours who care about him so much, I hope he grows up well, and I hope that his father will regret his decision to leave the little guy. It's honestly unforgivable to giving up on him just because of a disease, but maybe it's better since your family was probably more able to take care of him with much more love than he could have ever done so.

As someone with an older sister who has down syndrome... stories like these make me so irrationally angry sometimes. However, I am also very glad that he has an amazing family like yours at his side.

in all honesty, people are not all nice and equipped to care for others in general let alone people that have any sort of physical or mental disability. you have to have a very strong character to do so. i've seen people give up after years of trying not because they don't want to but they're weren't strong enough to continue to care for their child. There's some that know themseleves well enough to know that can't and won't be any worth to that child. its a decision that has been made regardless.

its irrational to get angry at people (although very normal) who most likely if they keep their son would have not treated him the best in the first place because they viewed him as not 'normal' it was better they were honest to begin with and left that child to be cared for by someone who actually gives a damn.
as for explaining it to him i don't really think there's a need, just because somone is biological related to you doesnt mean their your family. As long as there's people to care and understand him he'll be fine. it is what is really. of course due to his age depending how you explain it can be difficult for his emotional state, i wouldn't suggest you discuss it with him your anger and worry about the stituation would vent through which isn't helpful, but you can support him regardless, although i don't know as you didn't state on what place of the autistic spectrum he's on as im some cases there no need to explain some that is irrevelant to their current life and only cause emotional distress and doubt.

I don't know i suppose i have a different view considering my brother has autism, any anger i felt for people that bullied him were focused on make sure he grew up okay, and he's perfectly fine.. (alittle bit of conscending prick to his friends lol) but at 27 he's doing every thing people consider 'normal'.

I’m so sorry that you and your brother have to deal with this, and I really hope nothing bad comes out of it but you and your family sound nothing short of wonderful to your brother and can I say that your brother’s bio family would’ve had à delivery of a chickill if it weren’t going to be a waste of resources in hell?
