Katseye's latest collab isn't new music, but it did come directly from their lips.

The global girl group has teamed up with 5 Gum to create a collection of unique items inspired by the five senses: taste, touch, scent, sound and sight. The items start out somewhat predictable: Taste, for example, is a pack of the member's favorite 5 Gum personalized with their photo. And sound, is an autographed limited edition version of their latest album Beautiful Chaos, complete with stickers to decorate it.

From there, things take a turn for the parasocial hyper-personal.
Sight is represented by a custom glass marble that matches your favorite member's eye color. Touch is a 5 gum wrapper with an authentic kiss print from one of the girls. And perhaps most intimate of all, scent is a room spray that contains the breath of a member.

this is some sydney sweeney bathwater soap level of parasocial crap, i cannot believe someone greenlit this crap when first of all turning someone's breath into spray is gross and second of all there's a 17 year old in that group and these products can be bought by grown-up weirdos what happened to just putting the group logo on a product and calling it a day? there was also a time where everyone laughed at people selling like plastic bags with air a celeb breathed.. but now we're here​

That's creepy AF. I have a bigger problem with it than that one OF's girl selling her bathwater. She's intentionally catering to that kind of market, and is her own manager. KATSEYE are idols; I doubt they knew when they signed up for that they would be selling their own breath wtf.

It's just a comparison to the kinds of things people will sell. There was a big fuss about some OF girl selling her bathwater a few years back (I googled a comedian I knew who talked about it to find it again, for $30 a bottle!) and people were very critical of HER for doing that (and not, say, of the creeps who buy random girl's bathwater). But she's a sex worker, that's what she does. This kind of collab with piecemealing out bits of KATSEYE for purchase is like treating them like they're in that same vein, that being an idol means giving everything, even pieces of your body and breath, for public consumption. The kind of people who want to literally own a piece of someone else are... well, you can imagine. It's that implied element that draws the comparison.

whoever came up with this idea should be looked into because that is some weird kink crap right there. I also was gonna comment about the marble but it actually looks better than it sounds on the source website...I legit imagined a halloween like eye matching theirs which would be very odd too.

agreed, i still will judge anyone who spends their money on a woman's bathwater or whatever but there's a line which should never be crossed and their label did that agreeing to sell bottled breath of young girls whose job is to sing and dance.

i mentioned bathwater as it's the most "common" parasocial substance weirdos are buying from celebs, like sydney sweeney had a collab with some brand and sold soap with a minimal amount of her actual bathwater in it - thankfully this brand did not go that far for katseye but the breath spray is equally gross imo

I guess the basic idea is that you own a part of another person's body, so you are connected to that person. In Haiti there are people who avoid visiting a barber because they're afraid someone could steal a lock of their hair and use it in a Voodoo ritual.
When it comes to K-Pop idols, it's more like a fetish for some fans. But who knows if some weird folks actually use that bathwater for their love spells.

It is kind of strange. I have an IRL friend who likes KATSEYE and is always trying to sell me on them, but it's always like "look, I know the song is bad and it's hard to listen to on Spotify and the lyrics make no sense BUT..." which is like... not doing it for me.
