The longest siege in Japanese history was at a temple fortress known as Ishiyama Hongan-ji. It was a temple for warrior priests and commoners in modern day Osaka. This group opposed the samurai, and in 1570 the Nobunaga clan besieged the temple. After 11 years, the Nobunaga clan was victorious and the temple fell, ending the longest siege in Japanese history.

Sieges have always been brutal historically, especially for places that resist. Sometimes there would even be double sieges, where a group besieges a place, but while they’re besieging the place they get besieged by another group. So a siege on a group conducting their own siege
