So international people may have not heard of this but it's very big news in the USA right now.
So basically what happened was there was(is) a company called OceanGate who offers to take you to the RMS Titanic shipwreck for the VERY LOW PRICE of 250 Thousand Dollars (USD). And 4 millionaires and billionaires from across the globe decided on June 19th they would yk, go see the titanic. The submersible lost connection to the mother ship approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes into the dive, the dive is supposed to take around 8-10 hours. It's Thursday.
I believe they had somewhere between 92-96 hours of oxygen in the 22ft submersible. It has been 4 days now, that they have been missing. And their oxygen has most likely ran out by now, (I don't remember where I heard this next part) it was said that the oxygen would completely run out at 12:30 AM EST on Thursday.
So, they are most likely dead.
If they floated to the surface somewhere they wouldn't be able to get out because they were bolted in from the outside, so either way a rescue team would be needed.
Best case scenario, the submersible imploded and their death was painless and quick. I know it sounds scary and cruel but that would really be the only painless death.
and there is way to many worst case scenarios for me to get into, this thread is already long enough.

Its a very tragic event especially as one of the victims was underage

The two most plausible scenarios that ive seen have been either the submarine imploded or they got stuck somewhere in the seabed and in the latter case even if they were found it would be practically impossible to get them to the surface due to the pressure from the water

Well the son wasn't underage he was 19 but that's still too young. I can't even imagine what they went through before they died because they are obviously dead, either hypothermia, elevated carbon dioxide levels, implosion, ECT. It is really sad though. I hope their bodies are able to be retrieved for a proper burial.

It's pretty clear from the timeline of events and what has been released about the vehicle that they've all been dead from the beginning. That said, the Coast Guard found a debris field, so we'll likely know for sure in a few hours.

Yeah implosion most likely. I believe there was lawsuit with the saftey director of OceanGate for "breach of the NDA" because he said the submersible was unsafe (I think). And that there was small cracks in the submersible, there probably was because it dived 2 time before and it wasn't even a legal submarine or tested by the navy or nothinggg

And yeah they probably won't find their bodies but it's always good to hope and wait, even though it's unlikely 😕.

The submersible was untested/certified/classed. The CEO who died basically said the reason for that was because there'd never been a mechanical failure, it was more likely to be human error and the testing process to have it certified would have taken too long. Seems he's now proved why that certification exists and why choosing to forego it is a bad idea. Of all the vessels that could travel to that depth, the TITAN was the only one that wasn't classed at all.

To be quite honest, I'm of the opinion that they should have been left there from the start, controversial as that may be. Most of those on board were aware of the risks and the fact that rescue would not be possible. It is, was, and will always be a waste of time, money, and resources to try and rescue stupid people. The whole ocean exploration industry has essentially ignored this eventuality since the beginning. There has never existed a plan or proper protocol and tools at the ready for recovering a manned vehicle lost at depth, despite how many manned deep dives happen.

They struggled for 70 years to find the Titanic and it is MASSIVE, I know the technology we have now is more advanced but there's so way they are going to find that 22ft submersible, and there was NO WAY they would have been able to rescue the 5 people in the first place. There is no reason humans should be going to that depth in the ocean if death is almost certain everytime... They survive everytime by only pure luck in my opinion. Because anything could go wrong at anytime and if something goes wrong and you're 2 miles away from the surface? What could anyone do to help them? And I honestly don't know why the coast guard is still trying the rescue operation because I am 100% certain they are dead and there would be nothing to rescue.

At this point, based on what is being reported, I suspect it will turn from a rescue to a recovery and/or investigative phase. Seems there is now confirmation that the vessel has fragmented due to parts found. I think they should have rules in place for things like this from here on out.

The problem was the contact loss was a regular occurance, so it wouldn't have been as alarming as it needed to be. Apparently basically every trip had a loss of communications at some point. The major issue was that they had no plan if contact was lost that would verify the vehicle was still intact, and no locator beacon or other device to pinpoint where they were.

Literally, every single time someone was on that submersible (because it was used more than once) they risked their life's. And obviously there was wearing and tear on the craft to make it implode, if it was a proper submarine (like it should have been) it wouldn't have happened, or shouldn't have at least. The titan submersible was totally unsafe
