Usually, when I see new blinks or just kpop fans in general look at bp, the first thing they wonder is why bp doesn't have a leader. every other kpop group has one, and leaders in yg especially are taken very seriously, so what's up with bp? well, the big reason on why bp doesn't have a leader is because the members themselves didn't want to feel like there was a power shift in the group. all the girls are very close, to them having a leader would make it uncomfortable because they feel like they're all equal. no member wants to be better than another member or try to outshine them. and honestly, this is probably one of Blackpink's best traits. I think it really shows how balanced Blackpink really is as a group. each member has something that they excel at but they know not to try and overshadow each other, instead, they do their best as a group. that ladies and gentleman is why bp don't need a leader, all the girls are so close that they know what to do. they look to certain members when it comes to certain areas. the stance on who is the "leader" changes every second for them, so having one leader is useless.

a cool example of this happened today. Lisa, as I think a lot of you know, is a dance mentor on a Chinese girl group survival show, called youth with you. while she was critiquing dancing she said this:

I think not having a leader for a smaller group is better than having one. It just leaves more freedom for the few members to maybe take charge during different situations that some of the others might not be too confident in etc., KARD don't have a leader as well altho BM seems to be most likely to but generally they just keep it between them.

But besides these 2 groups I don't remember any other group that doesn't have a leader.

Depends on the dynamic of the group in the end as Gfriend for example work well with Sowon as a leader however with Mamamoo having Solar as leader doesn't seem as necessary to me and Mamamoo would probably be better off without one.

I was just basically reciting what the girls themselves said when they were asked why they didn’t have a leader.

They are only four so they can always find a compromise and they don’t seem to need one. It’s not the impression that I have when I see their group dynamic.

It's a small group with a small age gap, it's for the best that they don't have one.
They've all had moments wherever they take charge of the situation. It suits them
