I'm not sure if the movie is going to be good, but the visuals are amazing and Jack Black's Bowser seems like a good time to me. Plus, it's been ages since I've enjoyed a new movie in a theater, so I think I'm going to go when it comes in April. What are you thinking so far?

i watch all things in theaters so i might see this for fun. i can't complain about the actors they chose because my country only has the polish dubbing anyway

I actually like the art style for this. Faithful enough to the original look, but still it's own thing.

ig if I really wanted to be nitpicky about it, I saw in the trailers that it has that usual idk kind of bright, saturated color look that a lot of illumination flicks have? It's nice looking of course but I almost wish illumination would play a bit more with their color palettes and art style to give their work a more distinct identity. Like, take spiderverse for instance. The artists really crafted a distinct feeling with the colors they chose and other design choices. Illumination is just... bright, saturated colors. They don't put that kind of thought in style and ambiance.

sorry I'm kind of rambling. I think being an artist, I can be critical of art direction. It's cool how far technology has come because the rendering on modern 3d movies looks amazing, but I wish studios like illumination would also care about style and vibe and not just... pretty textures.
